our courses follow the Ontario Recreational Canoeing
Association program. The Ontario program is identical to the
Canadian Recreational Canoeing Association program.
Certification courses are available for the following

Brief
description of content

|
- Canoe
Tripping Level 1- Trip Participant
- This
course cover the basics of preparing for wilderness
traveler. Content includes planning and preparation, food
and menu, safety, navigation, camping skills, critter
proofing etc.

- Canoe
Tripping Level 2 - Trip Leader
- This
course provide participants with the skill and knowledge
to safely plan and lead trips into the wilderness. Many
organizations require this certification for their trip
leaders.

- Moving
Water - Playboating
- There
are two main types of whitewater paddling: Playboating
(having recreational fun on whitewater) and wilderness
paddling designed to extend safety on wilderness trips.
Blazing Paddles offers both types of courses. There are
four certification levels: Moving water 1 tandem, Moving
water 1 solo, Moving water 2 tandem and Moving water 2

- Lakewater
- Style Paddling
- Learn
to achieve finesse and develop complete control in a
canoe. This style of paddling is often called Canoe
Ballet because of the graceful movement of paddler and
canoe under control. Both solo and tandem courses taught
in level 1 and level 2. Content is similar in both
levels, standards of performance are much higher in level
2 which also includes some more complicated
maneuvers.
Canoeing
Basics (Flatwater)
- Of
interest to paddlers from novice to semi-experienced,
this is a great way to learn about safety and develop
skills covering all the essentials ranging from tying
canoes onto cars to portaging and paddling. These courses
are available in four levels. Three tandem levels (A,B
& C) are progressively higher skill levels and level
D is a solo course.
Flatwater
Instructor
- An
Ontario Recreational Canoeing Association course which
provides the certification necessary to teach basic
Flatwater canoe courses.
