Bloodvien
River
|
This photo was taken on a week long canoe trip from Ontario to Manitoba on the Bloodvien River which flows into Lake Winnipeg. The photo was taken on Kodachrome film using a Leitz 280 mm lens attached to a Pentax camera. The compression obtained with the long lens tightens up the compositional elements. Normally, having an object traveling out of frame as the canoe is doing would be an awkward design, but the large mass of illuminated rocks that splash upwards and to the left draws the viewer back into the picture. The scale of the human element compared to the landscape give the viewer a sense of the vastness of the wilderness. |
