River battered

This little Maple tree is pruned short every spring by the ice and water that rush down this chute during break up of the ice. The base of the tree was reasonably thick, indicating it was past the sapling stage, but the pruning action of the river kept branches low to the ground and filled with leaves.

This is a very long exposure taken in a predawn light. This adds an ethereal quality to the bluish cast in the mist.

The wide angle lens exaggerates the foreground elements and provides clues to the living conditions of the plant.
