A family canoe trip through this vast "desert" in the far north

Join the Kraiker family on their 23 day canoe trip along the spectacular scenery of the Athabasca Sand Dunes.

This must be one of the most unusual canoe trips in Canada. Imagine traveling down a northern river with the typical dark, boreal forest on your right and magnificent sand dunes rivaling any desert on your left. Farther along the trip, you're presented with an endless strand of beautiful white beach and there's not a soul in sight, even after a week's travel.

To finish this perfect trip, imagine camping on a quiet sandbar on a secluded lake. Behind you is a massive cliff of sand that's home to a wolf pack. Every night you're serenaded by wolves and every morning eagles perch on the sand bars near your camp to dine on the fish washed down the rapids upstream.
