Carswell
River
|

|
Even
though it had been a rainy spring, the water was
quite shallow in many sections of the Carswell
River. We had to wade many sections. Here Kyle is
trying to let his mom stay dry while he wades the
canoe.

Fire
is an integral part of the forest in this region.
The dried remains of jack pines turn into abstract
art in the lingering dusk.

Finding
campsites in the first part of the trip was a
delight. We could stop anywhere we wanted and be
treated to open, airy sites with a good view of the
river and a soft bed of moss.

A
typical jack pine campground on the
Carswell.

|
We
encounted many long sections of very technical
rapids that weren't marked on the maps.

|
We
were blessed with beautiful weather for the
duration of the trip. We only used our raingear
briefly on just two occassions.
