Near the banks of the Nottawasaga River, the yearly flood changes the patterns of life. The cycle of depositing of silt and errosion of flood is constantly changing the landscape - ocassionaly nurturing new forests, occasionaly drowning old forests. |
In order to get close enough to the heron rookeries for early morning photography, it meant inventing a unique method for pitching a tent. The yearly flood means there is no dry land within two kilometres of where we camped. A platform suspended between two canoes gave us enough room to pitch the tent. |
